In 2016 Union Bank celebrated its 125th year of community banking in Vermont. We also opened our newest Vermont location, the Barre Loan Production office, to further our mission of supporting local people and industry. The growth of our business was also recognized by the stock market when Union Bankshares, Inc. was added to the Russell 2000 Index, a distinction that highlights our success as an experienced and reliable provider of financial services.
Throughout our long tradition of local banking in VT, our core services have remained the same. We give customers convenient financial choices, a safe place to deposit their money, and loans to buy homes and expand businesses. We understand small-town life because we live in the same community.
Our commitment to community reinvestment has been recognized by the FDIC, which gave Union Bank an “Outstanding” rating for our ability to meet the credit needs of our local communities. We have also been named “Guaranteed Housing Lender of the Year” by the USDA. And our dedication to helping small businesses grow and create jobs was noted by the Small Business Association, which awarded Union Bank in two categories: highest volume growth and highest loan volume.
You’ll also see our concern for the people and communities of Vermont in the time and money we donate to local charities. We are a regular donor to Copley Health Systems’ Annual Fund, the Lamoille Area Cancer Network’s LACiNg Up for Cancer event, and we’ve been running our Save for Success Program for over 20 years to help elementary school kids learn savings and personal finance skills. Besides these three regular programs, we contribute to many other local causes in Vermont and beyond.
