Best Practices

Union Bank is committed to safeguarding the privacy of your personal and financial information, and is dedicated to providing a secure environment for your online and mobile banking needs. Here are some best practice precautions for safe and secure mobile banking:

Keep Watch
Monitor your account on a regular basis. This is the best way to spot any suspicious activity. And remember to always log out of your account.

Lock up your phone
Use your mobile device’s Password Screen Lock functionality, so that your phone automatically locks after being idle for a specified period of time. Requiring a password to unlock the device will help prevent unauthorized users from accessing the data and resources kept on your phone.

Don’t let your phone recall Login Credentials
Do not allow your mobile device to remember login credentials.

Protect your passwords
Use strong passwords that don’t incorporate obvious names, phone numbers, addresses or known dates. Change your password regularly and don’t store your password on your mobile device or reveal it to anyone.

Do not use public WiFi
Only use secure WiFi. Since most public WiFi hot spots are not secure, your financial transactions and user credentials are vulnerable to monitoring.

Avoid Phishing
Phishing is the act of attempting to acquire information such as usernames, passwords, and credit card details by masquerading as a trustworthy entity in an electronic communication. Do not click on any URL in messages that you are not sure about. Do not respond to any email that asks for personal information. Never send actual account numbers or other sensitive information via text messages or email. This information is typically not encrypted and is therefore unsecure. Union Bank will never request any personal information via email or text messages.

Prevent Attacks
Keep your mobile device’s operating system up to date and, if possible, install anti-malware software for Internet browsing on your mobile device.
